00:00:20: Everyone, I'm Erin Cox from the publisher of Publishing Perspectives, and I'm thrilled to be here with Felix, hosting on the books.
00:00:28: Felix, why don't you tell everybody why you came up with this idea for on the books?
00:00:33: Thank you.
00:00:34: Yeah, I should also add to your formal introduction.
00:00:36: I am Felix Zeltner, founder of remote daily, and I had the idea to introduce a live morning show at Frankfurt Book Fair so people when they are on the way to the fair can tune in live and if they miss out on it they can listen to on demand later.
00:00:52: and I'm trying to get gossip and good stories and great guests in thirty minutes.
00:00:59: and when I thought about who could I ask to do something crazy like that go live way too early from Frankfurt.
00:01:06: who could I ask to jump into a studio with me?
00:01:09: your name?
00:01:09: It was very high on the list.
00:01:11: Excellent.
00:01:12: Who was above me?
00:01:13: That's the most important
00:01:14: question.
00:01:14: You said less.
00:01:15: You said yes to it.
00:01:16: So here we are.
00:01:17: We will be launching on the books at Frankfurter Buchmesse, twenty twenty five, streaming every morning from Wednesday to Friday from a brand new podcast cube.
00:01:27: It's kind of like a little glass spaceship that landed in hall three point one.
00:01:33: And you can come by and listen in if you want.
00:01:35: You can bring a guitar or a drink and start the day with us.
00:01:39: Yeah, definitely.
00:01:41: I can't wait.
00:01:42: So when you were thinking of people, you thought of me.
00:01:45: Why did you think of me?
00:01:47: Because you're an amazing expert on a book fair.
00:01:49: I know that this is your sixteenth book fair, which is amazing.
00:01:54: You're very experienced.
00:01:55: You've been wearing a lot of different hats in this crazy publishing industry and you have always done great work and you're super smart and funny.
00:02:02: So that's why I asked you and please don't disappoint me.
00:02:07: I'll try not to.
00:02:08: Well, it's such a pleasure to be able to co-host with you because you were such a delight, you know, and the Hof, which is the virtual program that you do for Book Mesa.
00:02:21: It's so entertaining and engaging, and you've built such an amazing community around it, so I'm excited for us to work together to share insights for our audience here.
00:02:31: Thank you.
00:02:32: Yeah, my journey with Book... Massive Book Fair started five years ago and hosting The Hof is such a privilege.
00:02:37: It's an honor.
00:02:38: It's super fun.
00:02:39: And we just had a session where we warm up for Frankfurt.
00:02:43: And I'm now going to put this question to you that we tried to solve in this session.
00:02:48: What is sort of the emergency backpack that you're bringing to the fair?
00:02:52: What's in there?
00:02:53: What is like Aaron's secret hack to survive?
00:02:56: Walking a marathon, having way too many meetings, not eating.
00:03:00: Like how do you get through the week?
00:03:02: You need some kind of snack.
00:03:05: I used to bring freeze-dried broccoli, but now you can get your vegetables there.
00:03:11: I think
00:03:11: I actually brought you some freeze-dried kale last year,
00:03:14: I think.
00:03:15: You did.
00:03:16: This year I'm just doing nuts and dried fruit.
00:03:19: Okay, I'm in on that.
00:03:21: You got to do that.
00:03:22: Water.
00:03:23: You realize at the end of the day you're depleted, but it's only half of it is because you haven't had a sip of water all day, so a little water bottle if you can get it.
00:03:31: and comfortable shoes.
00:03:32: Those are the things you got to have.
00:03:34: You got to have all that.
00:03:35: New shoes.
00:03:36: What?
00:03:36: New shoes.
00:03:37: But new shoes that you've broken in because you can't just wear them for the first time in the book for your feel.
00:03:42: Sneakers,
00:03:43: not like no heels, nothing.
00:03:45: I like sneakers because I can't walk around in heels.
00:03:49: What kind of shoes do you wear?
00:03:51: Yes, also like running shoes, like thick layer of sole.
00:03:56: It's so important.
00:03:57: Otherwise, you're done.
00:03:58: Also, I have a hurting knee right now, so I'm bringing that to Book Fair.
00:04:02: It will be very interesting.
00:04:03: Maybe I'm going to be on all fours in the studio every morning.
00:04:07: Let's see.
00:04:09: I hope not.
00:04:10: I'm also super excited because through our half session that we just had, Frank from Warm Up, we received some amazing Insights where to find stuff.
00:04:19: that's survival stuff, right?
00:04:21: So yeah, great coffee.
00:04:22: between halls and five and six There's a coffee a little coffee cart.
00:04:26: You have to find it the first time.
00:04:28: It's a little hidden.
00:04:30: There's free wine tasting I didn't know about that in there somewhere in the gastronomy area.
00:04:35: and then there is the guest of honor the Philippines which is such an amazing culture such an amazing group of five hundred people that are coming from the Philippines to the fair and they will always have free food free snacks for drinks somewhere.
00:04:47: So if you are in survival mode, just go to the guest to understand, be friendly, be kind, and then just take everything you can get.
00:04:55: Do you have any other survival tips?
00:04:57: I think just come with a good attitude.
00:04:59: You know, you get out what you put in, and I think everybody's so excited to be there.
00:05:03: We're so thrilled to be, you know, all together in one place every fall.
00:05:08: And so it's nice to all be together and sort of share in the excitement of being together and also the serendipity of these.
00:05:14: chance encounters that we see.
00:05:15: So yeah, be open to it.
00:05:17: Yeah, a few years ago, somebody said something very sweet on the offside.
00:05:21: Without all of us, it's just a place.
00:05:23: And once a year, this world is coming to life and everybody's there and it's such a wonderful thing.
00:05:29: But don't overdo it on night one.
00:05:30: I also learned that.
00:05:32: That's also very tempting.
00:05:34: That was also an advice from you, I remember.
00:05:38: I want to say if you are up early because the lines are long, you want to get in early and you happen to be in hall three in the morning, join us.
00:05:47: We're there at J-Ninety-Seven, I think it's our booth and we're podcasting live on the books.
00:05:52: On the books was your idea, Aaron.
00:05:53: I love the name already.
00:05:55: And I think we should have a category.
00:05:56: that is the last word.
00:05:58: And I'm now going to put that on you.
00:06:00: What is your last word for our opening trailer, Aaron?
00:06:04: Oh boy.
00:06:07: Let's see.
00:06:09: Last word.
00:06:15: This is too much pressure.
00:06:16: I don't know if I can do it.
00:06:17: I'm going to say serendipity.
00:06:22: Serendipity.
00:06:23: Here we go.
00:06:24: On the books, live every morning from Book Fair.
00:06:27: See you there.
00:06:29: See you there.
00:06:31: This was On
